Position Purpose
The High School Drama Club Advisor is responsible for advising and overseeing the activities of the Drama Club. The High School Drama Club is open to any academically qualified student in grades 9-12. The Drama Club holds theater games and activities including improvisation, role-play situations, play readings, and play productions. All activtites are paid for through fundrasing and ticket sales and by club participants.

Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Drama Club activities.Determine role of club officers and conduct election of club officers.Establish club goals and plan for drama interests and activities.Encourage students to appreciate and value their classmates, school, and community.Encourage activities in support of school and community such as producing a play.Promote and monitor these goals to keep the class on task.Hold club meetings at least once a week to discuss interests and plan activities.Encourage students to appreciate drama, learn about various facets of production, and to improve upon character development and public presention skills.Work with club to develop budget for all activites and events.Help club plan fundraisers, club events, and production activities.See general responsibilities outlined in Advisor Packet.

Experience in Drama/Theater is preferred for this position.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university.
