Position Overview

The University of Kansas (KU) School of Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Assessment Coordinator to collect, analyze, and report data which promotes constructive change to enhance programmatic quality. The Assessment Coordinator will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to assess the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program and student attainment of educational outcomes; assist school administration in the evaluation and reporting of organizational effectiveness; and support school compliance and review by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Job Description

(10%) Planning and management

•Collaborates with relevant stakeholders including administration, faculty, staff, students, preceptors, alumni, and other university personnel.

•Communicates assessment activities, data release schedules, available data and reports, and assessment related services to internal and external constituents.

•Manages a section of the school’s website dedicated to assessment reporting and publication of program quality indicators.

•May supervise support staff and/or student employees.

(30%) Data collection, analysis, and reporting

•Conducts qualitative and quantitative studies to support decision making and accreditation compliance.

•Creates and/or deploys surveys and focus group discussions.

•Designs, develops, and maintains data tables, reporting systems, Tableau dashboards, and other reports and queries to meet analytical and operational needs.

•Plans and executes statistical modeling and predictive analysis of student data to predict student success.

•Benchmarks school data between the main and regional campuses, with national averages, and with peer reference groups.

•Reports assessment data in person, in writing, and as assessment data dashboards for real-time data dissemination.

•Provides data and narrative to support publication of annual reports and educational research.

(30%) Curricular and Programmatic Assessment

•Deploys and, in collaboration with school faculty, modifies the school’s assessment plan for both programmatic and curricular assessment, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and university requirements.

•Develops and promotes the use of tools/rubrics to document data-driven changes to the curriculum and program.

•In collaboration with faculty, ensures the attainment of programmatic learning outcomes are being assessed, documented, and reported for each student and the information is disseminated to relevant committees.

•Assist school administration in assessing organizational effectiveness by providing data and reports that document the extent the school is meeting programmatic goals related to the School’s mission, strategic plan, related educational programs, and other key institutional initiatives.

(10%) Accreditation

•Maintains an understanding of the accreditation standards and provides data and other support to promote the school’s reporting and compliance.

•Assists in the data collection for and writing of the school’s self-study document and helps coordinate and participates in the accreditation evaluation team site-visit.

(10%) Scholarship and service

•Participates and supports educational research within the school in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and others, as designated.

•Attends meetings of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (one to two meetings per year) and maintains active involvement with their assessment special interest group.

•Serves ex-officio on the assessment and curriculum committees, publishes meeting agendas, maintains the committee records, and provides supporting data and information, as directed.

•Represents the school on assessment-related university committees, as directed.

(10%) Other duties

 •Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s in education, educational research, psychology, or a related academic discipline that emphasizes the assessment/analysis of student learning and/or programs.
  • Three years of work experience in assessment, accreditation, or related activities.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing data with statistical programs (such as SPSS, SAS, R, etc), and reporting the results.
  • Demonstrated experience with planning and implementing complicated projects involving multiple constituents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in education, educational research, psychology, or a related academic discipline that emphasizes assessment/analysis of student learning and/or programs.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or healthcare.
  • A record of publishing research and/or grant writing.
  • Advanced proficiency with databases and statistical programs (such as SPSS, SAS, etc) to collect/analyze data.
  • Experience using Tableau or a similar program to disseminate data.
