Position Title: Sr Dir PMO

External Description:

The Director of PMO is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of the Project Management Office. This role will also be responsible for the driving strategic and annual planning processes across the organization, and for leading a body of IT and business leaders on technology governance and prioritization of IT investments. The Director of PMO will direct the strategic and operational financial planning process for the IT organization, creating a better understanding among the executive team of the intricacies of IT cost structures and investment strategies, and developing a solid approach to communicating the IT financial picture to the entire business community. Additionally, this position is responsible for organizational change management and talent management for the PMO.

This leadership position plays a key role in the IT organization’s ability to deliver business value by leveraging resources (People, Process and Technology). As Director of PMO you will lead and champion the capability and maturity development of project management and business process management as well as the organizational change management that is critical for the adoption, acceptance, and sustainability of these capabilities.

The Director of PMO is responsible for fostering the professional growth and development of all direct team members, continuously elevating the team's performance, and sustaining core project management and process management competency levels across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Ten years project management experience with at least five years experience managing a Project Management Office; or equivalent experience
  • Five years of direct people leadership of a team of at least 5 direct reports; or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP or other project management certification
  • Ability to manage an IT budget and to communicate IT costs and investments to an array of stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of Project Management concepts (e.g., demand management, prioritization, approval processes, reporting, issue/risk resolution, dependency identification, financial tracking, scheduling, resource management, capacity planning)
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale system development efforts through all stages of the project life-cycle
  • Ability to identify dependencies between projects and existing production environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge in architecture, design, software development, database management systems and systems integration in multi-platform environments.
  • Structured problem solving skills; ability to identify high-impact issues/risk for executive review
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple project management tools and methods
  • Experience leading a vendor management organization
  • Strong knowledge and ability to express new concepts and processes to the business
  • Advanced management skills in organization, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation
  • Proven ability to build and effectively manage high-performing, self-managing teams that work well in a complex environment
