Plant Buyer

Sonoco Flexible Packaging is currently searching for a Buyer.

Major Responsibilities: •

• Receive requisitions (manual and MRP generated); analyze for quantity, specifications and delivery requirements.
• Develop sources, request pricing and delivery; select supplier and place orders. •
• Consolidate requirements and develop most suitable method of purchase such as spot purchase orders, contracts, blanket or multiple release orders and supplier stocking or supplier service arrangements. •
• Gain familiarity with end use of assigned commodities, leading to the possibility of alternative materials or specifications. •
• Generate effective communications, good relations and a positive image with suppliers and co-workers, promoting courtesy and objectivity.

Requirements :•

• 1 – 3 years of current purchasing experience. •
• Bachelor's Degree and C.P.M. preferred, but not required. •
• Experience in a manufacturing environment – same or similar OEM industry a plus. •
• Must be knowledgeable about domestic and international sources of supply and logistical options for transport. •
• Experience with ERP computer software and engineering BOM structures and systems a must. •
• Must be proficient in MS Windows and Office including; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
