Senior Project Manager - Steel Fabrication and Erection

Job Description:Company is seeking a Project Manager to be responsible for budgeting, scheduling, production, safety, quality, field installations and management of subcontractors.
Project Managers are responsible to ensure that all detailing, fabrication and erection functions are carried out according to the specifications of the AISC Standard for Structural Steel Buildings, Simple Bridge, Bridge Components, Erection and customer contract requirements. Project Managers are responsible for projecting work by month and then ensuring that work is put in place. At the end of every month the project managers will complete a Status Review for each assigned project that includes identifying the Cost to Complete and total budget for the project. Each PM will have the support and management responsibilities for a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager.

Manage and provide ongoing feedback to direct reports including annual appraisals.
Keep direct reports on schedule with their G&O's.
Attend new project turnover, set up new contracts, budgets, purchases, change orders and subcontracts.
Communicate Contract and Project Specification requirements to team.
Ensure all applicable drawings, specifications, standards, and codes are logged in.
Immediately upon project turnover establish project budget and schedule.
As early as possible, use all resources necessary to establish potential increase in cost or slips in schedule and then make all possible effort to remedy.
Communicate all schedule changes with clients, internal and external as soon as possible.
On a monthly basis, work with the shop and field to update project budgets and quantities to be accurate and attainable.
Ensure all shop and erection drawings are checked to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
Manage prequalified subcontractors and suppliers.
Review and approve drawing for release to shop and field utilizing appropriate drawing review form. Provide adequate and timely job information into the shop for the shop to productively manage their work.
Publish and update project "scope sheets" that itemize labor phases and keep "cost to complete" current for use by Field Supervisor.
Work with Shop and Field Supervisors to track and report production quantities.
Ensure that production goals are communicated to the shop and field. Follow up on action plans to ensure they are taking place.
Approve check runs for accounting.
Manage buyout of project materials.
Ensure that all subcontract services utilized are qualified according to AISC certification criteria, and have knowledge of specifications when it comes to producing quality products. All onsite subcontractors must attend Company safety orientation.
Manage and schedule field erection.
Work with the DPM to coordinate workload between shop, field and subcontractors based on schedules and qualifications.
Delegate as appropriate purchasing, schedules, detailing, project communication (RFI's, Transmittals Etc.) field measuring and job meetings.
Utilize resources as appropriate but final drawing approvals are the responsibility of the PM.
Ensures that subcontractors check all incoming product and material to ensure that it conforms to the purchase order, as well as to project requirements. Test reports, certificates of compliance and other evidence of quality control are kept on file in the Q.C. Department
Ensures that customer contract requirements are communicated to subcontracted services to assure compliance to all contract specifications.
Fully utilize Fabsuite Project Management features to include RFI's, Submittals, Transmittals, PCO's, Drawing transmittals and associated follow up.
Constantly keep track of project schedule and budgets. Working with Shop and Field Supervisors, report weekly production quantities.
Update monthly billing for each assigned project.
Re-budget each assigned project monthly for Status reporting.
Keep labor phases accurate for post project evaluation and Incentive reporting.
Add new phases immediately when required for change Orders or adjustments to project.
Maintain PCO log and manage client to minimize open PCO exposure.
Provide feedback to estimating on production rates and subcontractors for fine tuning estimating rates.
Request client testimonials, DCAMM evaluation and early punch lists.
Ensure we have good project promotional photos and help complete a Project Sheet for each major project.
Review and approve invoices, Charge card statements and time cards for direct reports.
Mange contract record keeping requirements.

Core Competencies
Experience with AISC programs and understand the AISC code provisions as they relate to the design aspects of structural steel.
Some experience preparing estimates and cost proposals.
Understanding of budgets and other project controls.
Ability to understand construction principles and to read and interpret contract documents.
Experience with project scheduling.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for oversight of other teammates


Travel
Travel is minimal and primarily limited to the Northeast.

Education and Experience
BS in Engineering, or equivalent experience, with an emphasis on structural steel, miscellaneous metals and pipe fabrication.
Experience in metal fabrication.
OSHA 10 hour card required.

Minimum Requirements:
1. BS in Engineering, or equivalent experience, with an emphasis on structural steel, miscellaneous metals and pipe fabrication.
2. Project Management experience in metal fabrication and erection.
3. Experience with AISC programs and understand the AISC code provisions as they relate to the design aspects of structural steel.
4. OSHA 10 hour card required.
