  • Responsibilities

    As an Office Assistant, you will ensure that all aspects of the NSLC programs run smoothly and efficiently. During the summer, office/site assistants help facilitate our NSLC conference, including preparation for arrival days, student registration, closing ceremonies, and departure days. You will also be asked to:

    • Organize all student paperwork, attendance, etc.
    • Act as a liaison between NSLC and the University for issues relating to housing, meals, mail/packages, etc;
    • Resolve issues or concerns held by parents;
    • Assist students with issues or concerns (including basic medical);
    • Communicate with Program Directors and Site Administration to coordinate events and activities;
    • Manage AV equipment use and return;
    • Maintain a running inventory of site and office supplies;
    • Complete other as-necessary tasks to support the site.

    Additionally, you will be expected to help set up and organize the onsite office, as well as developing a full inventory of materials at the close of the summer. Please know that this is not a typical "office job" - NSLC views your position and responsibility as ongoing throughout the program as we are responsible for our students on a 7 days per week, 24 hours a day basis. Typical in-session office hours are 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM daily.

  • Qualifications
    • Office Assistants must be current college students or recent college graduates with a background and interest in office procedures.
    • The most qualified candidates will have participated in leadership programs, held previous secretarial or administrative jobs and/or have experience working at summer camps or with high school students in a position of leadership.
  • Compensation
    - Office Assistants are paid by session. - Positions available in Atlanta, Berkeley, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. - Staff is paid a stipend of $765 per session (2-4 sessions.) - Flights to each city are paid for by NSLC. - Free room & board is also provided.
