As one of Metropolitan’s Centers of Excellence, Behavioral Health is one of the hospital’s clinical areas selected for focused development and expansion of services. We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient mental health services to individuals with emotional, psychiatric, behavioral, and/or chemical dependency related issues in our 14-story Behavioral Health Pavilion, one of the largest mental health facilities in New York City. We offer a wide array of individualized treatment services provided by psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed social workers and other masters-level practitioners.
Metropolitan Hospital Center is currently looking for a full-time Inpatient Psychiatrist to join their team!
Metropolitan Hospital Center has been affiliated with New York Medical College since our founding in 1875, representing the oldest partnership between a hospital and a private medical school in the United States. An academic appointment at NY Medical College is offered.

Responsibilities
· Adheres and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures
· Formulates diagnosis, directs or performs appropriate therapeutic treatment and counsels patients
· Provides guidance and participates in the teaching of the house staff, in staff conferences and in research projects as directed
· Plans, organizes and directs the operation of a major segment within a medical service or medical program in a hospital or similar health facility; or assists the Chief of Service in the planning, organizing and directing of the entire medical service or medical program
· Assists in the establishment and maintenance of standards of performance for physicians and other professional employees working in the service

Qualifications
· Graduate of an approved medical school
· Possession of a valid license to practice in NYS
· ABMS BC in Psychiatry
· Current Board Certification issued by the appropriate American Specialty Board
· Five years of full-time licensed experience as a Physician practicing general medicine acceptable to the Medical Board of the hospital
