Health System in Central South Carolina need Hospitalist locum tenens coverage starting ASAP. The Hospital is located near Columbia, SC and within a 2 hour drive of Charleston, SC. There are day shifts with various cross coverage available including a designated admitter shift. Day admissions average 8-10. The admitting physician admits the patients from the ED to the Hospitalist service and ICU and will follow the patient on the first day before it is released to the ICU and Hospitalist service. The day admitter carries the Code Blue pager and will attend codes but will not handle any procedures. There are Respiratory Therapists to handle ventilation management and intubations and General Surgeons to perform any Central Lines. There is also a Telemedicine Critical Care Unit that monitors higher acuity patients 24-7.

The Day rounding shift average a daily patient census per hospitalist of 18-22 and is responsible for handling rounds, consults, HPs, discharge summaries and floor calls.

There is a midlevel to assist with admissions and HPs.

The hospital uses full order entry EMR for his medical records and billings. Hospitalists will be responsible for handling patient codes. Candidates must be board certified and residency trained Internists. The hospital prefers candidates with no disciplinary actions, a current ACLS and experience handling a busy patient census. Credentialing takes approximately 30 days.
