Position Overview / Summary

The Hospitalist Liaison is primarily responsible for engaging patients and their families in a positive and supportive manner while they are being treated at Mercy Regional Medical Center.  This person will be tasked with communicating any issues or concerns of the patient to the clinical staff to ensure a positive outcome.

Essential Functions (Including, but not limited to)

  • Perform patient rounding for an approximate average of 20 patients per day for new admissions, follow up visits and all discharges
  • Maintain a daily rounding log with patient data and comments
  • Prepare, present and participate in weekly hospitalist audit and internal surveys
  • Attend patient experience meetings twice per week
  • Collaborate with Practice Manager to assist with program needs when required
  • Initiate and facilitate frequent communication with Staff Hospitalists, Dr. Thomas, and Dr. Massouh
  • When requested by Practice Manager, Director of Operations, or President follow up with Mercy Providers on delinquent census/billing
  • Fax Census to Billing department daily
  • Additional patient experience duties may be added as requested by clinical Site Director, Chief Medical Officer, or Mercy Regional Medical Center administration
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the processing of death certificates, attendance and coordination of quarterly program meetings, insurance and patient follow up as time allows, etc.

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience with patient interaction in a healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10
  • Understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, clinicians, and non-clinical staff while maintaining confidentiality
