Location: 23d Medical Group, Moody AFB, GA

Work Schedule: The Contractor must provide services Monday through Friday flexible hours, 0700 to 1800, not to exceed 40 hours per week, excluding Federal holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree:
  • Education: Successful completion of a military Red Cross dental assistant program or a military dental technician or dental assistant school or dental assistant program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA). All training must have included a course in radiation physics; radiation biology; radiation health, safety, and protection; X-ray films and radiographic film quality; radiographic techniques; darkroom and processing techniques; film mounting; and, digital radiographic processing techniques.
  • Certification: Certified in radiography as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
  • Experience: As a minimum, the Dental Assistant shall have a minimum of 1 year of experience following graduation from dental hygiene school. Shall have been performing clinical dental hygiene services during 12 of the last 36 months.

HCW Duties (5.1 Task 1): The duties for the HCW are as follows:
5.1.1. Assists dental officer with patient treatment. Receives patient, examines dental record, and prepares patient for treatment. 5.1.2. Adjusts dental chair, and selects and arranges instruments and medications. 5.1.3. Takes and records blood pressure. 5.1.4. Assists in managing emergency procedures. 5.1.5. Retracts tissues and maintains clear operating field. 5.1.6. Prepares syringe for injection of anesthetics. 5.1.7. Prepares materials for making impressions and restoring defective teeth. 5.1.8. Records entries in individual dental records indicating oral cavity condition and treatment accomplished. 5.1.9. Performs dental health duties. 5.1.10. Assists in planning, developing, and conducting comprehensive dental health programs. 5.1.11. Exposes and processes dental radiographs. 5.1.12. Places patient in proper position for extraoral radiographs and processes digital images. 5.1.13. Practices and enforces accepted radiation safety standards. 5.1.14. Engages in general dental duties. 5.1.15. Follows infection control procedures and guidelines. 5.1.16. Cleans, sterilizes, and sharpens dental instruments. 5.1.17. Tests sterilizing equipment. 5.1.18. Cleans, lubricates, and makes minor adjustments to dental equipment. Performs daily inspection and user maintenance of dental equipment. 5.1.19. Practices and enforces accepted safety standards. 5.1.20. Performs dental administrative and materiel duties. 5.1.21. Maintains dental health records, filing systems, and publications.
5.1.22. Reviews correspondence, reports, and records for accuracy. 5.1.23. Performs dental materiel functions related to procurement, custodial responsibilities,
maintaining and disposing of dental supplies and equipment.
