| Job Function |
| Provides competent, holistic, effective advanced practice nursing care to consumers of behavioral health care at this agency according to standards set forth in statement on Psychiatric Mental health Clinical Nursing Practice (ANA, 1994). Population served will be adult consumers with mental illness and substance abuse (MICA). Functions as an independent nurse clinician and maintains competency to perform psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric pharmacological and psychological interventions, psychotherapy, consultation to other health care providers and evaluation of outcome. Maintains collaborative practice with physician for prescriptive practice. |
| Education Requirements |
| Certified advanced practice nurse in the state of New Jersey and ANCC certification with a minimum of a master's degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing. New Jersey license required. |
| Experience Requirements |
| At least five years of experience in psychiatric mental health. |
| Physical Requirements |
| Mobility and ability to reach during a 7 hour shift. Able to lift and transfer a minimum of 20 lbs. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treat and monitor patient needs, to recognize patients and maintain accurate records. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing of reports, charting, scheduling, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work a 7 hour shift. Hours and days off may vary. Weekends may be required. Overtime may be required. |
| Responsibilities |
| Ability to utilize technology. This includes checking and responding to email on a daily basis, ability to use a word processing program and ability to access and retrieve client information. |
