This is a Hospitalist position with expectations of education participation. Medical Center is starting a Psychiatry GME Program to begin in 2017. The unit consists of 42 inpatient beds and is staffed by 1 Psychiatry Medical Director and 2 staff psychiatry Hospitalists. Inpatient programming consists of an Adult unit, Geriatric unit, STAR (Stress, Trauma, Addiction, Recovery) unit specializing in the treatment of PTSD and a planned ECT service to begin late 2017.

This organization operates behavioral services at 55 locations, with a total bed count of over 2,500. They serves all age populations: 57% adult, 21% geriatric, 13% child and adolescent, and 9% dedicated to specialty services such as substance abuse and eating disorders.

Given the high incidence rate of behavioral health disorders and the significant impact on our community, the organization began an initiative in 2008 to develop a strategic approach to these services with the goals to:
•Strategically partner with hospital affiliates to improve the management of behavioral health services
•Align behavioral health services with other services and systems within to leverage synergies and improve patient outcomes
•Identify meaningful growth opportunities and institute a platform for increased effectiveness and collaboration through existing behavioral health services.
