HORIBA is a global group of companies that develop, manufacturer and provide an extensive array of analytical and measurement equipment to countries around the world.  HORIBA Medical, which specializes in hematology and chemistry diagnostic analyzers, has an opening for a biomedical technician /trainer in its Eastern territory, based in or near Hartford CT.  This position requires a significant amount of travel in the territory.

An FSR/SIS team member provides on-site service, maintenance and Systems Integration Customer Training of HORIBA Medical instrumentation.  This position will require specialized training, travel, a current and valid passport and driver's license;  responsible for the repair of laboratory instrumentation using controlled documentation, schematics, diagrams and also be responsible for the correlation, verification and validation of any new applications as is demanded by the market.  This position requires the ability to follow oral instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone; interacts with internal and external customers, peers, and the Company's Technical Service Group; works on problems of moderate to complicated scope where analysis of situation or data requires review of several unknown or identifiable factors; and exercises judgment within procedures and policies to determine best and appropriate action

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travels to and provides on-site technical assistance to customers experiencing a diagnostic or instrumentation issue, as advised by the HORIBA Medical Technical Support Group.

  • Responsible for on-site systems integration and guidance, implementing the sales applications and training on the individual instrument/system.  Requires a high degree and proficiency in clinical and technical aspects of chemistry and the instruments used for analysis, in order to train other skilled clinicians and technicians in the hospital, lab or physicians’ office.  Travel may be extensive, encompassing both domestic and foreign.

  • Responsible for timely diagnosing, repairing and confirming resolution of each reported product malfunction or technical question received from customers in the designated territory.

  • Records customer complaints or inquiries utilizing HORIBA Medical work instructions and procedures.

  • Responsible for completing and submitting to HORIBA Medical all service-related documentation as per department S.O.P.s..

Assists with after-hours technical "hot line" support as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Medical Laboratory studies; Registered Medical Technologist; Medical or Laboratory Technologist with hematology and chemistry laboratory experience.
  • Requires 2 to 3 years of Field Service experience on Hematology and Chemistry or related equipment.

  • Job requires that employee be capable of assessing the normal safety hazards directly related to the completion of duties under this job description.

  • Requires company-specific training regarding service contracts, service repair orders, regulatory requirements, software applications, instrumentation, company policies and procedures and departmental procedures.
