Job Description

Maintain highest level of patient care by insuring the safe and reliable operation of clinical
equipment in all departments. Ensures that all preventive and corrective maintenance is
performed to standards set forth by department policy and procedure, and ensure that all
department policies and procedures are current with accrediting authorities such as SC DHEC
and TJC and other governing bodies. Negotiates major maintenance, repair and parts contracts
for multiple medical equipment modalities, including all radiology equipment. Works closely
with the Information Services Department on network connectivity and infrastructure for
medical equipment. Leads and supervises the Bio Medical Engineering team including following
areas: human resource management including staffing, completion and revision of job
descriptions, and performance evaluation and discipline matters and leads teammate
engagement efforts; financial management including development and execution of Bio
Medical budget and responsibility for benchmark and productivity metrics' performance;
customer service initiatives; and, workload management including timely and high quality
completion of preventive and corrective maintenance and projects. Ensures a safe working
environment for department employees. Develops and assists in the development,
implementation, and coordination of operations programs and projects. Participates in
construction projects and equipment purchases. Performs all other duties assigned by the
Engineering Director and participates in hospital "on-call" status.
Education: Associates Degree from a recognized school in electronic engineering or biomedical
equipment technology; or a degree in a related field (management, etc.) required.
Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in clinical/medical equipment repair and
maintenance in health care/hospital environment; Budget planning and execution experience;
Experience in working with all aspects of Bio Medical Engineering to include but not limited to
Radiology, Operating Room, Critical Care, Laboratory; Experience supervising at least 2
employees.
Licensure/Certification: Valid and current driver's license required. Current standing in the
American Advancement for Medical Instrumentation and/or the International Certification
Commission
