Specialist (High Impact Practices) (HIPs)

The role will be responsible for the following:

The HIPs Specialists will work with the Director, Faculty Instruction and Professional Development and the CARE Technical Clerk to…

  • Provide faculty and staff with on-going professional development, curricular support, and leadership in the implementation of TBR High-Impact Practices initiatives and AAC&U LEAP Principles of Excellence.
  • Provide logistical support and expertise in the development and sustainment of all faculty and staff communities of practice lead by CARE.
  • Coordinate the Volunteer Fair, co-Chair the Student Research Symposium Committee and the High-Impact Practices Advisory Committee team.
  • Provide multiple opportunities that support faculty in high-impact practice curriculum development, reviewing curriculum, and suggesting any necessary changes for improvement.
  • Coordinate the annual CARE hips Summer Institute.
  • Work with TBR on appropriate grants and curricular initiatives.
  • Advise and inform faculty and staff of institutional and state policies that relate to curricular initiatives and the TBR’s Priority Strategies that recognize the high-impact of non-cognitive factors.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Multicultural Services and Student Life to communicate to students opportunities for experiential learning both locally and internationally.
  • Participate in campus events that support high engagement for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Develop a database that maintains forms and hips resources, and documents evidence in support of continuous improvement of chscc professional development events and activities.
  • Build collegial working relationship across the entire institution.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of the processes and procedures carried out by a division of Academic Affairs.
  • One or more year professional experience (graduate assistantships excepted) related to teaching, workplace training, and/or professional development.
  • Community organizer or event planning experience (volunteer, contractual, or previous employment).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Higher Education Administration, or related adult education field.
  • Experience in database (excel) administration, course management software.
  • Teaching experience either higher education or K-12.
