Job Description AWS Cloud Engineer (Operations, 3:00 PM to 11:00PM)

Position Description
U360 AWS Cloud Engineer will participate in POC and support of AWS cloud for CGI clients.
• Plans, implements and supports virtual machines (EC2), cloud storage (S3) and security services (IAM) with an overall objective to improve the scalability, reliability, performance, and availability of the cloud infrastructure. Administrates the cloud development, test and production cloud hosted environments
• Provides system analysis and recommended solutions for environment performance needs
• Monitors and escalates engineering issues to architecture team when required
• Ensures system performance, uptime and support levels meet or exceed SLAs
• Assists project teams with capacity planning, cloud service offerings, and deployments

Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the primary AWS services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, & VPC)

Currently we are operating 24x5 coverage and will be going to 24x7x365 coverage in the near future. As this is a production environment, candidates should be flexible to cover 24x7 operations.



Your future duties and responsibilities
The AWS Cloud Engineer is primarily responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of client environments and deploying new client environments within the deployment criteria of the architecture team.
Additionally, responsible for the engineering, management and troubleshooting of client business and technical solutions in support of CGI Federal’s Hybrid Information Technology solution leveraging AWS.
The AWS Cloud Engineer supports solution development with subject matter expertise and builds and participates in solution sessions to resolve CGI client issues and problems.
The AWS Cloud Engineer will provide subject matter experience and expertise to support system operations teams and services to both internal and external clients in production environments.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Participate in planning, implementation, and growth of our infrastructure on Amazon Web Services
- Manage and support full application stacks from the OS through custom applications using Amazon cloud based computing environments.
- Work closely with our architects and engineers to design networks, systems, and storage environment that effectively reflect our client's business needs, security, and service level requirements
- Manage a continuous integration/continuous deployment methodology for our server based technologies
- Work with engineering and architecture teams to support production design and implement scalable software services

- Experience designing and building web application environments on AWS
- Experience with Jenkins, Maven, Linux, Git, Tomcat, Jira
- Experience with Docker and containers, Linux and Windows system administration
- A team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment
- Ability to lead system deployment and incidance response
- Skill and ability to train others on technical and procedural topics
- AWS Professional Level Certification a plus
- Written and oral communication skills – ability to communicate technical concepts and support assertions with data
- Organizational skills – ability to coordinate and prioritize many issues simultaneously
- Analytical/Problem solving ability – ability to quickly evaluate an issue, resolve it or implement a workaround with consistent accuracy and success.
- High Sense of Urgency – This job entails supporting business critical applications, with stringent SLAs
-Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, of which 2 years’ experience must be directly related to supporting AWS environments.

The following AWS Certifications are highly desired; significant hands on experience may be substituted:
- Certified Solutions Engineer (Associate or Professional)
- Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
- Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
- ITIL, CISSP or other relevant certifications are desirable
Due to the nature of our Government clients, US Citizenship is required

Desired skills:
FedRAMP, NIST and FISMA compliance, Federal procurement, security and Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) processes, VMWare, IT Service Management, Content Delivery Networks
Terraform, Consul, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, microservice architecture, CloudFormation
