Cedar Falls Utilities (CFU) is a leader in the utility industry with the largest four-service utility in Iowa comprised of Electric, Natural Gas, Water and Communications Utilities. CFU seeks a General Manager with the capability to operate as CEO of this dynamic company, and with the energy and willingness to work to deliver on a number of progressive initiatives. This person must be a visionary and strategic thinker who can help ensure positive organizational progress and change. The General Manager reports to a Board of Trustees. CFU has approximately 200 employees and serves a community of 39,000.  Cedar Falls is home to one of Iowa’s three public universities, the University of Northern Iowa.

Requirements

Ideal candidates for the General Manager of CFU will offer a proven track record of management and leadership that includes success in the utility industry. Fully qualified candidates must offer technical ability to be viewed as immediately credible, while also possessing a breadth and scope of experience to work at a strategic level in all areas of utility operations. CFU will require a leader with exemplary communication and people skills, as well as, an individual who can oversee the evaluation and implementation of technologies to make CFU an efficient state-of-the-art utility. CFU also requires excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to environmental stewardship and safety, the ability to develop and execute the utility’s annual operating budget and annual capital improvement plan, and knowledge of power supply issues.  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Business Administration, or combined education, training, and experience deemed by the Board to be appropriate, is required. The total compensation and relocation package is competitive and will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
