Critical Access Hospital in Northern Vermont is seeking Hospitalist to add to its staff. The current model is a 3 hospitalist model. Under this model, there will be approximately 14 shifts per month and covering every 1 in 3 weekends. A combination of Hospitalists and primary care physicians work together to provide 24 hour coverage for the programThe average inpatient census at NCH is 17 patients. There is a 4-bed ICU/CCU unit equipped with new monitors and beds, staffed by experienced Registered Nurses 24 hours a day and managed by an ICU director. A staff Pulmonologist is available for consultation. Phone consultation with Intensivists and other specialists is also available through University of Vermont Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.The candidate must be experienced in Hospital medicine, with the ability to work independently and manage ICU patients. The physician must have competency in central line placement and ventilator management.Requirements Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Experience in Hospital Medicine including ICU management. Expertise and confidence to work independently. We are a fiscally sound, up-to-date facility with 25 active beds. The hospital carries the federal designation of a Critical Access Hospital.The hospital medical staff has limited sub-specialists but has an excellent group of necessary practitioners including general surgery, ob/gyn, pediatrics, neurology, pulmonary medicine, sleep center, radiology, pain clinic and ophthalmology. The hospital is also served by visiting cardiology, nephrology, and hematology/oncology. There is also an outpatient dialysis center.Located on the Canadian border and considered the northern anchor of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. This is the most unspoiled portion of the most beautiful state in the eastern US. Mountains, lakes, rivers, forests are dotted with lovely small towns. Outdoor recreation abounds, including hiking, cycling, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and golf. Newport sits on the southern edge of Lake Memphremagog, a 24 mile international lake that stretches up into Canada. Jay Peak is 20 minutes away, providing unrivaled downhill skiing, as well as a new indoor water park and a championship golf course.
