Job Description

Boston Latin School seeks a Systems Manager with operational expertise and experience in school settings to support the administrative team in effective programming and processes for our 2,450 students. High comfort levels with young people, technology, and a dynamic work setting are key, along with the ability to work into the evenings. Boston Latin School's facilities are used for various school and community events that would require the System Manager's permitting and coordination. We also seek to implement effective on-site programming for current and prospective students that fosters our mission of responsible and engaged citizenship. Our Systems Manager would not only be responsible for the organization and execution of some of this programming, but would work across the administrative team to lend technical and strategic support on special projects ranging from data analysis to campus beautification initiatives.

REPORTS TO: Headmaster
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations
  • Serve as primary point of contact for the building's activities between 2:15 p.m. and 6 p.m., monitoring after school extracurricular activities and events and ensuring a safe and orderly school environment as well as regular communication with the custodial team.
  • Manage and coordinate building use requests and permits.
  • Liaising with central office regarding facilities issues and managing our on-site parking assignments.

Data Systems
  • Create a data collection system and develop assessments to gauge effectiveness of after school programming.
  • Organize school performance data and create data presentations for various audiences.

Student Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Collaborate with administrative team to recruit and communicate with incoming and prospective students and families.

Additional Projects
  • Develop strategy and implementation for school-wide projects.
  • Participate on the attendance team to support intervention efforts and operational tracking related to attendance and tracking.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Passionate commitment to the mission of Boston Public Schools and Boston Latin School.
  • Outstanding organization and project management skills - ability to see the big picture and to manage the small details. Tenacious on follow-through while balancing organizational priorities.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to facilitate decision-making amongst multiple parties.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
  • Ability to learn quickly and to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a climate of inclusion and equity.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment


QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
  • Advanced degree
  • Prior experience in Boston Public Schools or a similarly dynamic school setting (or central office environment)

TERMS:

This position subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. This position subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.

School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
