The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Maintenance Mechanic opportunity, you will have:- A high school diploma or GED equivalent and completion of a formal apprenticeship program or at least three (3) years of recent equipment mechanic experience.
- Experience repairing conveyor systems, including motor, gearboxes, pulleys, taper lock, QD bushings etc.
- An extensive collection of personal tools and mobile cabinet appropriate and sufficient to perform the tasks listed under The Role tab, including some specialized tools as per department standard. A minimum tools list requirements to be provided upon employment.
- Familiarity with:
- Welding, torch cutting and fabrication techniques, including MIG and stick along with cutting, grinding, etc.
- Diagnostic techniques and equipment, including digital volt OHM meters.
- Shop practices and procedures.
- Hand and power tools use.
- Industrial equipment, fuels, lubricants, and applicable fluids.
- Cal-OSHA safety requirements.
- The ability to:
- Operate any mobile and construction equipment.
- Assist in training of other staff in regards to equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Work independently and efficiently with an emphasis on excellence.
- A high level of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude and the ability to lift, pull and carry heavy objects up to 50 lb.
- The ability to climb and work occasionally at high heights.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and medical exam.

The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Services Manager, you will join a team that includes a team leader and three other Maintenance Mechanics. Here in Latham, we manufacture concrete roof tiles, and we run three production lines, raw material handling, and curing chambers. Your mission will be to keep your assigned production line up and running during the shift, and perform repair and preventative maintenance in the later part of the shift. Quick question for you - click here You'll also work on other equipment as needed, and back up other Mechanics for lunch, breaks, etc.More specifically, you will:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, and facility, which includes assembly and disassembly.
- Check equipment condition and settings before, during and after production, and adjust as necessary. Responsible for implementation and performance of Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Assist the supervisor and other crew members in machine startup.
- Inspect, repair, and overhaul equipment as needed.
- Ensure accurate and timely repairs of equipment to minimize loss of production, safety and quality.
- Maintain housekeeping and Lean activities in all areas as required.
- Become fully experienced with all machinery operations as to assist in employee training as job requires.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of quality control requirements.
- Performs periodic inspections to assure equipment is maintained and that all safety equipment is properly in place, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Complete work reports and parts list as directed.
- Handle all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
