Graphic Artist/Marketing Specialist

Position Summary: The Graphic Artist/Marketing Specialist is responsible for the creative development of a wide variety of marketing and communications materials and platforms. He/she also has direct responsibility for seeing projects through to completion – from concept to production. Working closely with and under the direct supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Graphic Artist/Marketing Specialist is an important part of the Marketing team and will assist in the development of marketing and branding strategies, communications, promotions, and special events. He/she is also responsible for maintaining Blackbird Bend Casino’s website and social media platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop creative concepts, designs and art files from initial concept to press or production approval for Blackbird Bend Corporation’s marketing and communications projects including but not limited to print advertising, direct mail and email campaigns, posters, flyers, menus, billboards, signage, graphics for broadcast production, brochures, reports and newsletters as well as digital and social media platforms
• Produce and edit creative, engaging artwork, graphics and marketing and communications materials with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and other design tools
• Maintain and uphold the graphic and style standards that consistently preserve Blackbird Bend Corporation’s brand image and identity
• Produce technically correct mechanical/digital files per vendor specifications
• Complete projects by coordinating with vendors for print and digital production
• Provide oversight for in-house printing or production efforts
• Ensure marketing projects are completed on a timely basis
• Communicate project progression to appropriate parties and stakeholders
• Responsible for website construction, maintenance, and refinement
• Responsible for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and social media marketing and communications
• Design, develop and send email marketing campaigns
• Maintain and organize digital artwork and image files in the Marketing database
• Assist with photo and video shoots
• Participate in department planning, status and marketing strategy meetings
• Research, evaluate, and recommend design trends, material options, interactive/design trends, and all aspects of design evolution
• Assist with the maintenance and refinement of data in the Oasis 360 system for the purpose of administering the Club Blackbird program as well as ongoing database marketing and communications efforts to the casino’s target audience(s)
• Assist with the preparation of mailing lists
• Assist in the preparation for and execution of casino promotions and special events
• Create, maintain and project a positive image of Blackbird Bend Corporation for all team members, guests, communities and regulatory agencies
• Demonstrate a professional, positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Contribute to a team effort
• Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment
• At least two years of specialized graphic design training in college or technical school required; a four-year degree is preferred
• A minimum of two years of experience in commercial graphic design in a business setting required
• Experience in the design of print ads, direct mail, and similar collateral marketing pieces is required
• At least two years of experience in social media and web-based marketing in a business setting is required
• Above average proficiency in using computer/printer hardware and applications
• Demonstrated technical and artistic skills using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
• Refined knowledge of web design, editing, content management, SEO and SEM
• No felony, theft or stealing convictions or charges
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background investigation
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable
• Must be available to work evenings, holidays and weekends in order to assist with promotions/projects
• Must be able to work in areas with varying or excessive levels of noise, crowds, and smoke
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods
• Must be able to smile at guests, make eye contact with guests and converse with guests on a regular and consistent basis.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Certifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles
• Direct experience in graphic design elements including color, layout, composition and typography
• Credible experience in website development
• Knowledge of mailing regulations/standards
• Copywriting or editing skills
• Social media and web-based marketing skills
• Strong proofreading skills
• Attention to detail
• Well organized and able to multi-task
• Understanding of current marketing, mass media and production trends
• Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations, promotions and marketing in a customer service oriented environment
• Be able to identify and define problems, make decisions and successfully cope with challenging situations and conditions
• Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with team members and the general public
• Be able to interact well with team members and guests at all levels
• Possess skills in operating business computers and office machines, including operating Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
