    ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic student intern with exceptional design, writing and communication skills to join its team.

    ARTogether is a community-building creative arts project, guided by the principle that art can serve as a means of expression that transcends language and culture, while it lays a foundation for managing and overcoming trauma. ARTogether facilitate social gathering, family picnics, and other social activities to raise awareness about refugee situation and also to make connection between the refugee community and the general public. ARTogether forms partnerships with artists and refugee organizations in the Bay Area , to develop and host regular free creative arts workshops that are 90 minutes to two hours in duration. ARTogether designs one-time workshops as well as ongoing regular series. Workshop themes cover a broad range of media and purpose. Activities take place onsite or at the partner refugee organization’s facility, and wherever possible.

    We are looking for a student intern to:

    • Tracking and executing projects: Requests may range from the creation a logo to graphics for a social media campaign, event flyers, design reports, and newsletters.
    • Crafting compelling stories: In addition to creating assets, you’ll work closely with the Editorial team to think of ways to leverage photos, graphics, and videos that bring our stories to life, and tell stories on their own.

    This internship is an excellent introduction to the world of non-profit advocacy groups and social impact through design and art.

  • Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate is/has:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proven graphic design experience.
    • Solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize each content by suitable design.
    • Able to work on her own, with minimum supervision
    • Passionate about organizing, community building, refugee issues, design and art

    The position is currently unpaid, although a small stipend may become available, contingent on future funding. However, the internship will provide excellent training for anyone considering a future in art, community organizing, and non-profit management. We request a minimum commitment of 10 to 12 hours per week. Scheduling is always flexible.

    ARTogether is located in Oakland, but this internship position can be done entirely online after the initial interview and training. We do prefer, when possible, attendance at regular weekly meetings. Position can begin immediately.
