Front desk officers greet guests and ensure they are comfortable when they first enter the facility. They may work in hotels, large companies, or other organizations with receptionists. Specific job duties vary, depending on the industry and company, but general job duties may include determining what products or services the guest needs, providing refreshments while they wait, and documenting the guest’s request into the computer system. The qualifications to become a front desk officer include a high school diploma and industry or customer service experience.

How to Become a Front Desk Officer

The qualifications that you need to become a front desk officer vary depending on the type of facility in which you work. In this career, you need at least a high school diploma or a GED certificate. Since your job focuses on greeting and directing customers, clients, and visitors, you need communication and customer service skills. You also need the ability to use a computer and communicate over the phone. If you work in a hotel, you can choose to pursue a certificate or degree in hospitality. Most employers do not require a degree, and they generally provide on-the-job training for new hires.
