Job Description

sPower is an established and rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, with additional offices in San Francisco, Long Beach, and New York. sPower seeks an O&M Manager with experience in the Renewable Energy industry with a focus on Solar Photovoltaic systems. Duties will include supporting all operational plants and managing internal and external providers. The successful candidate will have the aptitude to succeed in managing multiple tasks and supporting the operation of all plants and O&M for the fastest growing utility-scale independent solar and wind power producer.

Core Competencies:

·        Exceptional organizational, communication, decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills

·        Experience with utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems

·        Problem solving and implementing site specific procedures to increase plant uptime

·        Ability to train O&M technicians and provide oversight

·        Hands on knowledge of various SCADA and DAS systems

·        Team player with strong initiative, able to work autonomously to complete tasks

·        Knowledge and experience with medium and high-voltage electrical transmission systems and substations

·        Working knowledge servicing of inverters and PV systems

·        Teamwork – ability to work with a team of O&M professionals to solve problems quickly and efficiently

·        Ability to read, understand electrical, civil, and structural plans

·        Ability to read, understand maintenance contracts

·        Problem solving and implementing site-specific procedures to increase plant uptime

·        Analytical – Must be able to analyze problem scenarios and make quick intelligent decisions

·        Understanding of logistics and operations in a service environment

·        Strong understanding of the NEC Code and the ability to reference the code as required

·        Experience managing schedules to ensure maintenance is done on time and on budget

·        Proficiency on a PC computer with basic hardware, software, and networking abilities

·        Positive ‘can-do’ attitude

·        Passion for the renewable energy industry.

  • Understanding of OSHA and other workplace safety requirements
  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of spare part and critical resource management

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidate will serve as O&M Manager and will provide support for operating renewable energy projects throughout the United States. The O&M Manager will work with sPower’s Asset Management team in the execution and planning of the O&M program with oversight of all field crews internal and external.

Specific duties will include:

·        Work with sPower Asset Management team to ensure quality projects are installed and maintained throughout the portfolio

·        Supervise and support a team of up to 25 solar maintenance and land maintenance technicians

·        Data room management for technical document uploads and project document organization

·        Understanding of project management duties

·        NABCEP certification or other component specific solar certifications, electrical license in any state is preferred

·        Basic understanding of O&M management systems and ability to log detailed case and maintenance data

·        Basic understanding of how to interface with and understand various communication devices that operate under the TCP and Modbus protocols

·        Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills including AC/DC ground faults, asset communication issues, switch gear trips, and generic PV equipment failures

·        Advanced customer experience skills with ability to make the customer comfortable and included in the process of maintaining and servicing renewable energy assets

·        Basic computer skills to operate quickly and efficiently with manufacturer’s utility programs, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, CMMS, DWG viewer, and various DAS platforms

·        Travel to sites as required to support O&M Team

·        Interact with Utility representatives for technical updates and discussions

·        Review technical documents and studies

·        Work with vendors for product technical support, warranties and logistics

·        Work with construction teams to ensure that all technical and bank/Independent Engineering requirements are met for project finance

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·        Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field of study OR

·        Journeymen Electrical License OR

·        8 years construction and/or technician experience in PV solar energy or closely related industry

·        Minimum of 3 years of managing technician-level direct reports

 

Compensation:

·        Commensurate with experience

 

Travel:

·        Travel to project sites for servicing, training and inspections, and other sPower offices
