Job Description
sPower is an established and rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, UT with additional offices in San Francisco, Long Beach, and Richmond.  sPower’s Engineering team is responsible for the company’s evaluation and development of wind, solar, and energy storage technologies that are technically sound and represent state of the art, the development of cost estimations for both construction and O&M operation and the development of specifications, designs, and integration of energy storage to both new and existing projects.  
The Engineering Project Manager will be expected to manage multiple projects, in a team environment, in various renewable disciplines (wind, solar, energy storage).
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned projects through the project life cycle (origination, development, engineering and construction, operation) using personal expertise, close coordination with internal subject matter experts and external consultants.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in electrical, civil, structural or mechanical engineering relating to renewable or energy storage technologies.
  • Manage the engineering process of renewable/energy storage projects from concept to complete design using internal and external resources.  
  • Coordinate EPC cost estimating with the estimating team.
  • Develop, negotiate and manage third party engineering and construction agreements.
  • Manage EPC budget and schedule.
  • Support construction process by providing engineering guidance and ensuring construction quality per specifications.
  • Review, understand and manage offtake and interconnection requirements.
  • Support project commissioning and testing.
  • Deliver financeable assets to the finance team for tax equity and debt financing, support the finance team during diligence inquiries by meeting conditions precedent of the finance documents.

Execute, enforce and participate in the negotiation of:
  • Development consultant contracts
  • Engineering Procurement and Construction agreements
  • Procurement agreements
  • Interconnection Agreements 
  • Analyze and report on new technologies, vendors and contractors.

Desired Skills, Expertise and Competencies:
  • 10+ years of EPC project management experience (Preferably in Utility‐Scale Solar, Wind, or Energy Storage).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication (verbal, written and listening), decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Ability to motivate a project team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with varying personality types.
  • Ability to track project costs and maintain a project budget.
  • Maintain a project schedule and adjust as needed to meet project goals.
  • Project and case management skills with a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, including contract management.
  • Preference given for experience navigating the construction and tax equity financing for renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design requirements in the utility scale solar energy, wind energy, and battery energy storage.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • High degree of self-motivation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD systems. 

Education:
  • BS degree in engineering required, EE / MS preferred
  • Formal training in Business Management preferred
  • Applicants should have academic and/or work experience in the fields of sustainability, renewable energy, engineering, clean tech, environment, economics, business, and/or finance

Compensation:
