Coating Setup Technician

2nd Shift

Job Summary/Objective:  

Under the direction of the Production Manager Coating Operations, the Coating Setup Technician is primarily responsible for cleaning and preparation items to be vacuum coated.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Cleaning and preparation of glass substrates and jigs prior to thin film coating
• Cleaning and preparation of filters and beam splitters prior to anti- reflective coating
• Operating ultrasonic cleaning system. 
• Evaluating and quality control of parts and surfaces before and after coating
• Inspect kitted jobs for proper tooling, correct material including size, quantity of parts issue and surface condition
• Use scheduling software to ensure jobs are ready for manufacturing on time.
• Route finished parts to appropriate departments
• Ensure correct information is entered into data collection fields.

 Work Environment:

• Chroma is a fast-paced, collaborative, high tech manufacturing environment
  • Work is performed in a clean room which requires wearing a lab coat, hair net, dedicated shoes, gloves, and a beard net when applicable
  • Work is performed under focused high intensity lights in an otherwise darkened environment
  • This role routinely uses tools including microscopes, calipers, and micrometers, as well as alcohol, and acetone

 Physical Demands:

• Dexterity in handling small, delicate parts
• Enter data into computer systems and/or produce documents, typically utilizing a    computer keyboard
• Close vision for computer work
• Ability to sit and/or stand at work station for extended periods of time
