Zermount Inc. is seeking a motivated Sr. Technical Writer to join our Corporate and Business Development (BD) team at Zermount. This person will be responsible for gathering information, formatting each proposal according to company and proposal guidelines, and obtaining approval before sending proposals and documents to potential clients and partners. The Sr. Technical Writer must have excellent organizational skills, work well under pressure and tight deadlines, and be able to communicate effectively in writing. This person should care about facts and details as well as writing in a convincing manner. The Sr. Technical writer will be engaged and assisting develop the value proposition and articulate win themes, strategies, and solution narratives in support of proposal efforts. This person will be heavily involved through the proposal process and will have proven skills in writing and editing proposal content (technical and non-technical).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Experienced in leading storyboarding sessions, participating in key review meetings/final document review, content sign-off, and document production.
  • Coordinates/manages the process to update our proposal knowledgebase system, and ensuring it is kept up to date.
  • Attend kickoff meetings to determine proposal scope, resources, and responsibilities?
  • Re-write/edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery.?
  • Ensure win themes are articulated in such a way to meet / exceed the client's requirements.?
  • Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Proposal Manager against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required.?
  • Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members.?
  • Undertake market research for the kickoff and solution meetings.?
  • Proactively develop and manage and collaborate a network of subject matter experts (remote and on-site interactions).?
  • Assist the Bid / Proposal Manager in developing a proposal structure.?
  • Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant.?
  • Ability to coach sales and solution / SME teams in writing best practice.?
  • Present and tag all new proposal content to the knowledgebase manager for potential re-use.?
  • Knowledge of proposal automation software such as RFPIO, Loopio, PandaDoc, RFP360, Proposify, etc.?
  • Communicate and influence at a senior level.?
  • Excellent time management / prioritization skills.?
  • Forensic attention to detail and meticulous proof-reading skills.?
  • Help create proposal schedules and deadlines?
  • Conduct research on latest processes, IT advancements, cybersecurity innovation, and other company capabilities; to support proposal and request for information responses.?
  • Edit documents for accuracy and clarity?
  • Analyze past processes, current processes, and identify trends and make recommendations for improvements??
  • Ability to document processes and procedures in standard operating procedures (SOPs)??
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers during layout?
  • Effectively communicate your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management?
  • Present proposals to stakeholders?
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 7-10 years of related professional experience in Technical Writing, Business Development, Proposal Management or a related field. ?
  • Strong attention to detail, initiative-taking, and time management skills.?
  • Knowledge and experience working in federal government or with large private industry?
  • Excellent organization and communication skills?
  • Proficiency in SharePoint publishing and designing?
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills?
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and effectively present to corporate leadership
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized.
  • Demonstrated experience error-free, grammatically correct on-time proposal content, high scoring proposals answers against client RFP criteria and achievement of internal SLAs.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.


Bachelor preferable but professional experience is Permitted.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Creative Writing, Business Administration or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience or related experience is required.

Certifications and Training (Preferred)

A minimum of at least one of the following security certifications:

  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Technical Professional (CTP)
  • Technical Writing Certification (TWHQ)
  • Other related certification

Work Location

Remote; occasional onsite meetings at Zermount Corporate Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Hours of Operation

  • Business Hours: 8:00 am EST - 4:30 pm EST.
