Our client is a tax advisory and consulting firm for individuals and businesses. The office handles both individual and small business tax returns, as well as small business bookkeeping and payroll.

Job Overview

The Tax Practice Director is responsible for leading a team of professionals in the central and southern regions of Oklahoma who are responsible for handling tax returns, small business bookkeeping and payroll for high worth individuals and small businesses. This leadership position requires a leader with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and is detail-oriented and able to multi-task.


· Leader and primary manager of 5-10 teammates serving numerous accounting clients in the central and southern Oklahoma regions

· Primary point of contact for all area client relationships. Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of client’s businesses.

· Leads and manages multiple client engagements and organizes delegation of engagements among staff

· Maintains client relationships and handles all tax and accounting conversations that require high level expertise

· Reviews federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, benefit funds, real estate, and exempt organizations

· Performs tax planning or coordinates tax planning for all clients in which they are the responsible party for the firm

· Analysis and coordinates all IRS notices, audits and correspondence

· Learns and educates all tax Changes for IRS, States and local taxing entities

· Reviews all accounting and financial statement presentations submitted to clients

· Prepares research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or other taxing authorities

· Maintains reference materials and is proficient in researching items for tax and accounting specific regulations

· Trains and supervises staff and reviews and evaluates their work

· Ensures all projects are tracked, accounted for and completed within the firm’s software applications and completion guidelines

· Manages multiple budgets and production goals

Experience and Qualifications

· Masters’ degree in taxation or equivalent preferred

· CPA license required

· 8+ years prior experience in public accounting and tax

· 5+ years supervisory experience

· Strong accounting and analytical skills

· Research proficiency and strong computer skills

· Proficiency in Office 365

· Experience in Ultratax and Lacerte preferred
