Position Summary

The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for staff recruitment, operations, and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staff recruitment process and facilitate the hiring process for seasonal staff
  • Manage the camper registration process
  • Manage summer payroll, accounts payable and vendor accounts
  • Track spending actuals against budget
  • Create a camp schedule, coordinate trips, special events, and overall camp calendar
  • Serve on the team planning staff training and development
  • Attend occasional weekend camper and staff recruitment events
  • Support year-round programming

Requirements

  • Minimum of two seasons of camp administrative or leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation, Jewish Studies, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or Business OR unrelated degree with progressively responsible year-round experience in day camping
  • Experience working with children ages 3 – 10
  • Preference is given to Hebrew speakers

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and demanding deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
  • Proficient computer skills including internet-based software, MSOffice applications including Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with educational programming a big plus
