Fitness Maintenance Director

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Fitness Maintenance Director enhances YMCA member experience by budgeting and completing work orders for YMCA wellness equipment and managing wellness center configuration projects throughout the Association.

  1. Monitors work order system and complete work orders related to maintenance equipment repairs and preventative maintenance for Association wellness equipment.
  2. Works with outside contractors to obtain bids for maintenance projects and oversees all work done by contractors at the branches as related to projects.
  3. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff as needed.
  4. Monitors maintenance contractors to ensure they meet expectations.
  5. Provides overall coordination of wellness center reconfiguration projects.
  6. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on budgets related to wellness maintenance equipment and purchases for branches.
  7. Informs property team of maintenance issues.
  8. Maintains tools and equipment in a safe, functional, and orderly manner.
  9. Assists location staff as needed to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  10. Relates to the public in a positive manner.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree highly desirable.
  2. Three or more years of experience in equipment repair or closely related field preferred.
  3. Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR and First Aid.
  4. Completion of YMCA risk management and other maintenance-specific certifications, as needed.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
    the community and successful clearance of background check.
  6. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between branches on a daily basis required.
