Job Description

Position Overview:

Yeargan's Top Notch Automotive is currently seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician to join our team! We are looking for individuals who take initiative, invest in their future through professional development, and want to create new opportunities. Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and testing customer vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation/changes, wheel balancing, and replacing filters.
  • Operating computer diagnostic equipment and diagnosing troubleshooting codes.
  • Maintaining vehicle condition by listening to customer descriptions, conducting vehicle health inspections, diagnosing and repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, and replacing parts and components.
  • Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives.
  • Complying with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. A current North Carolina State Inspection certification is required. You must be willing and eligible to obtain certification if you do not have one.
  • Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and informing the manager to call for repairs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum two years of experience as an automotive technician/mechanic in an independent shop or dealer.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and repair equipment is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are very important.
  • Must be comfortable using a PC and handheld tablets to complete digital vehicle inspections.
  • Hold a valid North Carolina driver's license and access reliable transportation.
  • ASE Certification is preferred or must be willing to complete at least three within two years. Employer reimbursement is available.
  • Paid training is available.
  • Employees must provide and maintain their tools/toolbox.
  • Any hired candidate will be subject to a background check and drug screening.
  • Reliability is crucial for any successful candidate. Service Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Incentive pay plan:

  • The base salary will be commensurate with experience (a 90-day base training period salary applies).
