Yali’s café Is a 20 years old company serving the UC campus high quality coffee, pastries, breakfast, and lunch with a dedicated following. We pride our self for the quality of our employees who deliver great customer experience, wonderful coffee and food to the students, faculty, and staff of the university. We are looking for a manager for our new and beautiful shop in the engineering building in Sutardja Dai Hall.
Yali’s cafe is seeking a highly motivated and energetic professional for the position of Store Manager to oversee all aspects of our Yali’s at Qualcomm café in the university of Berkeley engineering building. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with at least one year of management experience in a coffee company.
The role will be a full-time salaried position with a compensation package that is very competitive with similar positions in the area and reflects the experience of the selected candidate. The Store Manager will be responsible for the overall retail experience including placing and receiving orders and communicating with vendors, managing baristas and kitchen staff, training of baristas, high-quality drink execution, customer service, cash handling, and store maintenance. The Store Manager will report to the owners directly.
The store manager hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. We are closed on all weekends, and on all holiday the university is closed, and two weeks for winter break (Christmas)
Lead, train, and inspire baristas to provide an exceptional customer experience. Provide genuine customer service, drink and food standard, and point of sale training. Ensure operational efficiency while maintaining a welcoming environment at the cafe. Implement staff development program for new hires. Increase overall financial performance of the cafe through sales growth resulting from proper food and drink preparation and strong customer service. Ensure that the cafe and equipment are maintained to allow for a clean and safe environment. Check vendors incoming invoices for errors and prices and communicate with owners and vendor any issues. Place orders with vendors according to guidelines. Manage positive relationships with vendors. Communicate regularly with owners regarding sales, staffing, employee performance, and overall operational efficiency. Review and maintain disciplinary records for the store, and ensure an understanding of, and adherence to, standards of conduct and shops guidelines.
Experience: At least one year of experience managing a coffee or restaurant with a strong coffee program.

• Must have reliable transportation • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience • Available to work Monday to Friday 8 to 5 • Ability to stand for long periods of time • Maintain a clean and work-appropriate professional appearance • Restaurant or food experience preferred • Has a food safety certification or can become food safety certified s.
