Job Description

This is a position that supports both the internal & external marketing and communication needs of the organization. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer. This individual will develop key relationships with internal and external constituents to coordinate, promote and increase awareness on all aspects of YWCA York to include programs, services, community relations, events and mission. The Marketing & Communications Director will support the organization's vision and culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop positive, ongoing relationships with local media outlets, act as primary interface with the YWCA and media.
  • Manage all social media accounts for the organization.
  • Oversee and manage brand guidelines for organization both internally and externally.
  • Promote daily internal communications briefs to all staff.
  • Manage constituents' monthly e-newsletters.
  • Maintain the organization's website.
  • Create and maintain publications' production schedule.
  • Manage all brochures, annual reports, flyers, newsletters, and advertising materials.
  • Work with contract graphic designer to direct projects.
  • Increase the organization's footprint in community.
  • Identify stories to promote YWCA York and its programs and events.
  • Organize photo shoots and maintain the photo and design archive.
  • Create and maintain central location for all approved YWCA documents, such as logos, photos, letterhead, etc
  • Research and place ads.
  • Develop and maintain press lists and press archives.
  • Draft and distribute press releases and assemble press packets.
  • Oversee the process of screening newspapers, magazines, and electronic media; prepare and circulate clippings/links to others on staff; organize and assemble publicity reports.
  • Lead YWCA York's marketing strategy, including marketing, promotion and public relations efforts.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, including for the United Way, to increase community awareness of YWCA York's services.
  • Prepare briefing material for donor and prospective major donor visits for Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, and representatives of YWCA York.
  • Oversee the marketing, purchasing, and evaluation of YWCA merchandise.
  • Demonstrate willingness to perform whatever duties are necessary in the development and maintenance of the organization.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
