Manufacturing Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The Manufacturing Engineer position assists in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing continuous improvement techniques.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure assigned mechanical maintenance jobs and/or projects are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Ensure any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. problems are corrected.
  3. Modify fixtures.
  4. PLC knowledge.
  5. Involved in the development of design of tooling.
  6. Assist with ongoing projects and the maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery.
  7. Troubleshoot in pneumatics and hydraulics.
  8. Conduct process studies and make recommendations for temperature, material, mechanical and manual processes and systems to enhance manufacturing and maintenance efficiencies.
  9. Make recommendations for improving quality control methods.
  10. Acquire thorough knowledge of product.
  11. Attend daily plant production meetings.
  12. Introduce new products and follow through on their development from concept to full production.
  13. Responsible for quoting new injection parts.
  14. Requisition spare parts for repairs and part inventory.
  15. Ensure that all aspects of his/her area of responsibility are in full compliance with the quality system in place at the operation at all times.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment
This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp small items, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Working overtime and/or weekends may be required as necessary.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

  1. BS Degree in an Engineering or Technical field
  2. 3-5 years experience in manufacturing environment.
  3. PLC knowledge
  4. AutoCAD experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. BS Degree in an Engineering or Technical field
  2. 5-10 years experience in automotive manufacturing environment.
  3. Ability to program PLCs.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Knowledge in TS16949 Principles
  2. Trained or degreed in Plant Manufacturing Techniques and Procedures
  3. Lean Manufacturing
  4. 5S
  5. Waste reduction methods

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

1. Must have valid working documents to work in the United States.

2. Must be able to obtain a valid passport.
