Schedule:

Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm (Some flexibility required on nights and weekends)

How you’ll perform the role.

YAI has an opening for an Employment Training Specialist. The Employment Training Specialist will support people as they seek to improve their communication and socialization skills by interacting with their peers and people in the community in innovative and creative ways. Brentwood WAVE and Employment Services also provide on-site job training and coaching services throughout Suffolk county to ensure that the people we support can obtain and maintain employment in the community.

What we’d need from you.

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required; Continued education in psychology, social work, art therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, or disability services strongly preferred.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, computer skills necessary to record observations and monitor development.
  • Ability to participate inn5 days of paid NYS Mandated OPWDD initial training during normal business hours upon hire.
  • Tuberculosis test mandatory prior to the start date.

In 2018, YAI created a training program in conjunction with Rutgers University to provide advanced manager and leadership training.
