Job Description

Facilities Management Specialist

The Facilities Management Specialist (FMS) is responsible for analysis and evaluation of the long-term and short term viability of building systems and infrastructure. This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities to perform detailed research to perform engineering inspections, evaluations, and project preparations. In addition, the FMS will be tasked to develop and/or modify existing and new AutoCAD drawings, prepare Scope of Work (SOW) statements, and calculate costs of projects to prepare Independent Government Estimates for budgeting on assigned facility projects. Roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • General inspection of all building system conditions, as well as all facilities and systems, equipment and components to include, but not be limited to: Facilities Components; Boilers, Generators, Chillers, Water Pumps, Veeder-Root Fuel system, Water Treatment system, Electrical Sub-Stations and systems, UPS Back-up power systems (including batteries), Roofs, and all HVAC systems;
  • Document all conditions to include longevity and usage of equipment on the inventory record provided by the Client;
  • Under minimal supervision, the contractor will develop detailed planning and estimating products in accordance with customer project request, needed repair, maintenance, construction and renovation requirements amongst other documentation;
  • Plan utilization of space and facilities: Inspect buildings and office areas to evaluate suitability for occupancy, considering such factors as air circulation, lighting, location, and size; measure facilities to determine total square footage available for occupancy; compute square footage to determine whether minimum space restrictions can be met for staffing, draw floor plans for future projects.
  • Designing, plotting and displaying various signage and posters that are needed for the Client worksite (i.e., name tags, evacuation signs, event posters, Building Circulars, etc.);
  • Update and advance the current FSMD "News You Can Use" monthly publication.
  • Perform facility related services to include usage of AutoCAD 2015 or latest version, to populate drawings and databases with facility information;
  • Develop, manage, update and maintain all RKB drawings in both soft and hard drawing formats.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a finalized DOD Secret Clearance
  • Requires demonstrable experience working as a facilities management specialist.
  • Requires demonstrable experience working with AutoCAD 2015 (or later version), Microsoft Office tools and Adobe Suite.
