We are looking for a Senior Property Accountant to join our remote Client Accounting Services team. The Senior Property Accountant’s responsibilities will include providing strategic bookkeeping and accounting support. Will work & lead a small team of various accounting staff and report directly to our Accounting Manager for clients with revenue typically ranging from $1M - $10M.

A successful Senior Property Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to help with the day-to-day operations for their team. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating with a team of accountants.

Requirement Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance

  • Minimum 5 years or more accounting work experience

    • 3+ years of experience as a senior property accountant or related position a plus

  • Proven experience working with various accounting systems.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct

  • Experience supervising & leading a team.

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite

  • Phenomenal attention to detail. You don’t guess, you know. If you don’t know, you seek greater understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • Working remotely as a team with associates to serve the needs of our clients.

  • Reconcile, investigate, and resolve accounting transactions related to financial statements

  • Monitor property and portfolio cash positions, process payables for property portfolios and resolve payment questions

  • Prepare complex accounting entries related to property acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, recapitalizations, cash flows, and joint ventures

  • Prepare and review financial reports for joint venture, lender, and third-party owners including cash analysis schedules, draw requests, and other related documents

  • Prepare and/or review bank reconciliations and cash deposits

  • Appropriately capitalize fixed asset acquisitions with appropriate asset class classification (i.e. real estate, building improvements, tenant improvements, or repairs and maintenance)

  • Manage Fixed Asset software, review depreciation and amortization schedules and post appropriate monthly journal entries

  • Appropriate capitalize and amortize prepaid expenses & prepare monthly accrual entries

  • Monthly or quarterly balance reconciliation of all balance sheet account, specifically prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, mortgage/loan balances, cash & credit cards, AR & AP

  • Review ownership entity contributions/distributions in accordance with governing documents

  • Monitor and manage year-end tax preparation and audit schedule preparation for assigned portfolios

  • Read and understand legal agreements including operating agreements, management agreements, loan documents, leases, etc. and apply knowledge to property reporting.

  • Perform general accounting duties including data input, filing, scanning, and organizing information
