Technical Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for Software Development Department, developing and implementing short and long-term strategies for resources and capability development.

Position Reports to:

Operations Director

Department: Consulting/ Software Development

Status: Supervisory/Exempt

Essentials Responsibilities:

  • Manage development projects (internal and customer-funded projects), technical leadership, and actively engages in projects and programs in the areas of architecture, product development, maintenance, and continuous integration (50% Manage projects / 50% Software Development).
  • Leads the direction of the technical group in areas such as:
    1. Development of artifacts (requirements, design, code, Architecture, verification procedures)
    2. Define a path to align the development of outsourced work to be in line with the company’s strategic, quality, and tactical goals.
    3. Establish functional and system standards to ensure operational requirements, quality requirements, and design constraints are addressed.
    4. Establish guidelines and best estimation practices to ensure the project time and budget management.
  • Prepares proposals and cost estimates for new projects
  • Planning and successful execution of technical tasks
  • Support of analysis, plan variance, and recovery actions based on earned value management (scope, time & cost)
  • Work hand in hand with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Officer Administrator in people management tasks such as;
    1. Mentoring for development, attendance (tracking Sage and customer timecards), and performance management.
    2. Develop and execute staffing plans
  • Co-develop and execute strategic plans for the development of resources and group capabilities aligned to Wovenware's projects needs and quality standards.
  • Coordinate, gather, and analyze requirements during customer meetings in order to develop, design documents, and assign priorities for the software development lifecycle.
  • Support administrative tasks by providing accurate time estimates and creating proposals for Sales and Administration.
  • Supervise and provide training to Sr. Software Architects and Software Architects to advocate best practices in design, modeling, coding, architecture, and leadership across all technical teams in the organization.
  • Take at least one annual continuing education course related to Software Development, Supervision, and/or Project Management to keep up to date on new and best practices.
  • Write articles for the Wovenware Blog that portrays the level of expertise and the Company’s leadership in the particular area as related to our industry.
  • Other related duties may be required as assigned by the CEO and COO


  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
    • More than twelve (12+) years of hands-on professional experience in the design, development, and implementation of web applications, Java or C# enterprise solutions and Approved courses in Software Architecture
  • More than three (3) years of hands-on professional experience in the Sr. SOFTWARE ARCHITECT POSITION or similar and higher position.
  • Has been highly recommended for the position by his/her peer group, CEO and COO
  • Extensive knowledge and/or certifications in programming methodologies, such as agile and/or scrum. (PSM; Professional Scrum Master)
  • Must have knowledge in at least one technology for each area that requires experience;

Java, C#, and C++

Software Design

9+ year of experience

Design Patterns, MVC frameworks, SOA architectures, UML & High-Level Design

Interface Development

9+ years of experience

XML, Web Services, TCPIP, Service Broker & SOA

*Other technologies as required by management

  • Keeps up to date on Software Development tendencies and best practices.
  • Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to influence and motivate people across a broad variety of job functions through strong leadership and relationships.
  • Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work and capable of performing in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to communicate and put ideas into a tangible form.
  • Demonstrate experience leading personnel to achieve goals.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with sharp customer service and results-oriented focus.
  • Ability and willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Availability to work in the offices of our clients and Wovenware Offices

Physical & Safety Requirements:

Primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and carrying of light objects. An adequately lighted and ventilated area where normal precautions for use of office equipment must be observed. This is a standard 40-hour workweek job that may require additional and flexible hours as necessary to complete project deadlines on time.

Compensation is commensurate with experience level. The Technical Manager position will be an integral part of our team and will have a competitive combination of base salary, Performance Bonus, 401K, Medical Insurance 85%-50% contribution, Sick Leave, and Personal Time Off.
