The Role:

We are looking for a Director of Business Operations to help us scale. You will report to the VP of Operations and your role as Director of Business Operations will be to spearhead cross-functional initiatives that will impact our customers as well as our internal operations. This will include creating or optimizing processes to create internal efficiencies, identifying and providing insights to our customer facing teams, and becoming an expert on our products, customer, and market. You will identify opportunities and then work cross-functionally with leaders and team members across Product, Sales, Marketing, Account Management, Customer Success, Data, and Operations to drive initiatives forward.

  • Spearhead cross-functional initiatives, from exploring new opportunities at they relate to our products, new products, and our customers
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to create or optimize internal processes
  • Understand what success looks like for our customers and equip our customer facing teams with data and insights to help grow their partnerships
  • Work cross-functionally to identify solutions to any problem that arises or spearhead initiatives or special projects as they relate to the RETAIN business
  • Be an expert on the WorkStep products, customer, and market


  • At least 5 years of professional experience
  • SaaS experience
  • Strong business acumen, structured thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Operational, process-minded, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with large data sets and experience with Excel and/or google sheets
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast paced evolving startup environment
  • Passion for the WorkStep mission

Preferred experience:

  • MBA and/or consulting experience a plus
  • Previously held a customer facing role or strategy or operational role in a customer facing organization
  • Proficient with Salesforce, Mode, SQL, and/or Looker
  • Experience working with (or in) our primary industries: HR, warehousing, trucking, manufacturing and production
