Job Summary
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource department including recruitment, new employee set up and onboarding, and total rewards programs including: compensation, benefits, recognition programs, employee perks, leave programs; oversight of our people process including performance review management and employee relations; and managing company policies, procedures, and practices. The HR Generalist will initially report to the Chief Operating Officer transitioning to the VP of Operations once that position is filled.
This is a hybrid position based in Denver-CO. A minimum of one day/week in WorkLife's Denver-based office will be required. The HR Generalist will also be required to welcome new Denver-local employees on their first day at the office.

Compensation and Benefits
We are proud to offer a competitive salary and benefits package to our employees. The starting salary range for the HR Generalist is $68,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually DOE.

Essential Duties
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Initiates new hire onboarding in including systems, benefits, policies and procedures
- Manages employee termination process and off-boarding
- Manages semi-monthly payroll processing and supports end-of-year distribution of tax records
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, performance and talent management; recognition, and culture
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Supports WorkLife's internal equity initiatives
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Manages WorkLife's broker relationship; ensures WorkLife is accessing competitive
- Manages and maintains all employee reference materials including Employee Handbook, Onboarding Guide, and Orientation Materials
- Manages and takes action on anonymous feedback from staff
- Implementation of updated HCM/HRIS technology within the year
- Oversees WorkLife's staff training program (will help develop/launch the program in the first year on the job)
Desired Experience and Core Competencies
- 5+ years in a progressive HR generalist or HR business partner role
- HR industry certification preferred but not required
- Experience supporting/scaling a fast-growing nonprofit, social enterprise, or small company is preferred
- Skilled in end-to-end recruiting processes and best practices
- Experience in payroll processing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to act with integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
- Strong experience in total rewards administration primarily compensation and benefits management
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations; ability to keep up with changes
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems.
