Commercial Real Estate Controller

Woodmont Properties is seeking a Controller to become an integral part of our team! You will be responsible for daily activities associated with the accounting requirements for a portfolio of 31 properties and reporting to the managing partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all aspects of accounting responsibility for at least 30 properties including:
  • Preparation of monthly financial information in accordance with owner deadlines and requirements
  • Monthly general ledger account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliation
  • Monthly bank reconciliations and analysis of monthly financial statements
  • Cash management of assets including determination of what can be paid weekly-AR/AP
  • Cash management includes communication on all items involving cash shortfalls and cash surplus’ that involve capital calls or distributions to owners
  • Calculation of monthly management fees and other fees
  • Forecasting cash flow​
  • Making all real estate tax and insurance payments timely to avoid late payments and penalties
  • Communicate with property owners, tenants, attorneys, tax authorities, team members, vendors and other personnel as necessary
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and maintain effective internal controls
  • Initiate monthly payments for debt service, owner distributions, etc.
  • Work as a team player in evaluating and resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and personnel
  • Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase return on investments
  • Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records and techniques
  • Conduct internal audits to assess financial status
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and all business
  • Resolution of accounting problems and company related issues as needed
  • Identify and implement process/company strategy and improvements
  • Research problems/projects under the direction of the immediate supervisor as required
  • Create property budgets as needed
  • Perform additional company duties as assigned or needed

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in accounting management or other related fields
  • CPA preferred, not required
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License
