The Woodfibre LNG ("WLNG") Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre LNG Limited is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading manpower planning, recruitment, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, system administration, HR policy and harmonization in support of business goals and be part of our success story. As part of a larger HR team, the Human Resource Manager is expected to work closely with the HR team in BC, Canada. This role is a two-year limited term role based in Houston, Texas with possible future assignment supporting new projects and expansion of WLNG and its subsidiaries in North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with project leaders regarding staffing: determine needs, ensure appropriate staffing levels, prepare plans and recruit the desired headcounts. In partnership with our Recruiter, coordinate recruiting efforts in the hiring and placement of all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare team member-related documents and collaborates with service provider to ensure new hire documentations are completed promptly.
  • Administer, track, and maintain highly confidential personal information databases that are current and accurate.
  • Ensure company and legal compliance with employment practices, policies, processes, and applicable laws.
  • Play a lead role in supporting local leadership on employee engagement, social and employee related events and activities and programs that drive engagement throughout the office. Promote a positive working environment.
  • Roll out various corporate initiatives
  • Collaborate with our Global Mobility Specialist and external service providers on mobility requirements for the team
  • Assist in the development, communication, implementation and enforcement of company policies and overall HR processes. Facilitate or provide HR policies training (including new-hire orientation) to the workforce. Participate in policy discussion and make recommendation regarding policy changes.
  • Oversee the corrective action and disciplinary process within assigned business unit ensuring consistency of enforcement
  • Maintain, analyze, manage and improve HR measurements pertaining to all employees and managers working within their area of responsibility. Measurement would include turnover, hiring, attendance, training and safety. Take action to continuously improve measurements
  • Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews
  • Perform daily administrative tasks in support of the HR group.


Requirements

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university.
  • Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of Human Resources Experience.
  • SHRM Designation would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of labour and employment laws and legislation in the United States.
  • Impeccable level of detail.
  • Fantastic communication skills.
