The Role Wonderful College Prep Academy is committed to providing a world-class education for all students. The Academy's mission is to graduate students who are prepared to earn a college degree and to put them on a promising career path for life. We believe this begins with a nurturing, engaging, community-centered school environment where students develop a strong academic foundation in literacy and math. Ultimately, this will prepare generations of leaders in the Central Valley who are critical thinkers and life-long learners. The Academy's first school opened in 2009 serving students of Delano and surrounding communities in grades 6-12. In 10 years, the Academy has become the premier high school in the region, with 80% of its graduates attending 4-year universities. In 2017, WCPA added an elementary school to its Delano campus and launched a new charter school in Lost Hills. Currently, the Academy serves 1,750 students and approximately 175 employees across both campuses. We seek a talented HR Director who is dedicated to raising the standard of excellence for our schools and excited about the entrepreneurial opportunities that accompany rapid growth. The HR Director will support both Delano and Lost Hills campuses spending at least four days in Delano and one day in Lost Hills a week. Here's what you'll do: Major Duties and Responsibilities: Organizational Management and Leadership: Manages the overall administration, strategy, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function at the Academy. Strategy and System Building: Organizational thought leader that anticipates, plans for, prevents, troubleshoots and manages risk around potential Human Resource issues. Develops a state-of-the-art educator development strategy that produces highly effective educators for WCPA. Builds best-in-class Human Resources systems across the organization. Legal Compliance: Maintains 100% compliance with federal, state and local employment, credentialing, and benefits laws and regulations, including FMLA, PDL, CFRA, Worker's Comp. It is also responsible for compliance with all wage and hour compliance. Tracks leave and disseminate appropriate paperwork and notices. Ensures mandatory postings are updated and displayed and training is complete. Training: Responsible for ensuring that all employees receive legally mandated training. Administrative Responsibility: Develops and administers various human resources policies and procedures, including ownership of the academy's employee handbook, policies, and procedures. Maintains an up-to-date and compliant human resource information system; tracks vacation and benefits accrual; conducts open enrollment and administers benefits. Employee Recruitment, On-Boarding, Retention, Evaluation, and Off-Boarding: Partners with Talent Acquisition Manager to recruit and retain top talent. Conducts new hire orientation and supports the onboarding process by ensuring appropriate documentation and paperwork is completed. Establishes regular communication with new employees; conducts salary surveys and analyzes compensation, creates and administers ongoing engagement surveys to make data-driven recommendations. Leads the annual performance and merit increase review process to ensure every employee receives timely feedback and merit consideration. Prepares and delivers termination paperwork, including administration of exit interviews and coordination of all off-boarding activities. Employee Relations and Investigations: Responds to employee complaints and leads to any necessary investigations.. Coaches leadership on employee relations issues and suggests an appropriate course of action. Credentialing: Assists teachers with processing credentialing paperwork. Ensures certificated personnel has proper credentials relevant to their assignment according to the Commission on Teaching Credential regulations. Audits education staffing assignments to ensure compliance with state law. Continuous Improvement: Committed to continuous growth by consistently reflecting on past actions to guide future decisions and actively engage in professional development opportunities. Other duties as assigned Here's what you'll bring to the table: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, required Master's Degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred 10 years of Human Resources experience with some supervisory experience Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), preferred Extensive experience with California teacher credentialing requirements, required Skills and Traits: Commitment to our organization's mission and educational philosophy Organized and detail-oriented An entrepreneurial spirit capable of managing many complex tasks with competing priorities Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders A self-reflective individual who solicits performance feedback and constructive criticism Flexible and adaptable, open to new ideas and adjusts plans to meet changing needs Interest in and knowledge of leading employment trends.
