Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Finance, the Associate Director Financial Systems and Management Reporting is responsible for the US accounting, including the production of the monthly financial statements, finance committee reports, maintaining a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results.  

This role will also work with the Senior Director of Finance in developing institutional budgets.

Key Responsibilities
Institutional Budgeting:
  • Develop annual budget templates in coordination with the Sr. Director of Finance and the Global Programs Unit
  • Provide direct support on annual institutional budgeting
  • Work with the Global Program Unit and Country Finance Managers on the consolidation of the WfWI’s annual budgets for each country. Monitor all changes of the budgets and maintain the latest versions of budgets in different One Drive folders
  • Assist the Sr. Director of Finance in the preparation of budget analytics for the Leadership Team (LT) and the global board
  • Train and troubleshoot issues regarding budgeting templates
  • Assist in the budget reconciliation between annual operation plan and submitted annual budgets from Country Offices
  • Upload budgets onto the WfWI accounting software and the reporting tool
Accounting & Audits
  • Lead the monthly close process for the US and collaborate with global team to consolidate financial reporting
  •  Lead global consolidated audit and US tax preparation with external auditors and tax preparerd
  • Ensure accounting transactions are properly classified, recorded, and reconciled, with appropriate backup attached in Sage Intaact
  • Prepare with analysis internal US and consolidated monthly reporting for the Leadership Team, and quarterly Board/Committee reports
  • Ensure accounting results are accurate, timely, and comply with GAAP
  • Works with fundraising teams to reconcile, record, analyze, and forecast revenue
  • Prepare financial and cash forecasting reports to support internal management reporting.
  • Serves as the business lead for the implementation and administration of the Sage Intacct Accounting software and other financial tools that WfWI may procure in future
  • Utilizes standard reporting tools to write, maintain and support a variety of reports and work closely with Business Solutions department to resolve issues
  • Collaborate with Business solution department to provide end user security management in Intacct and participates in the controls of financial systems.
  • Works with the International Accounting team to provide support of financial systems, including documentation and training of users 
  • Works with Senior Director of finance and business solutions department to develop and document workflow processes to create efficiency in the operation of financial systems
  • Sets and implements goals and objectives for sage Intacct in consultation with Sr. Director of Finance and evaluates performance 
Internal Controls 
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls
  • Communicate WfWI’s accounting policies and procedures to appropriate parties
  • Manage the organization’s general ledger and supporting systems
  • Supervise the Officer, US accounting who is primarily responsible for Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets 
  • Provide one-on-one coaching of staff to build up skills and effectiveness
  • Lead and/or perform special projects as needed
  • Collaborate with the global accounting team to align country offices and US accounting close
  • Liaise and collaborate with the external auditors on the audit plan and the management of the audit process
  • Work and cooperate with the US department teams to provide input to the monthly management reports and periodic board reports
  • Work with all financial stakeholders to understand reporting needs and coordinate with consultants to deliver on agreed outputs
  • Engage with external stakeholders and maintain updated information on US banking, investments, insurance, and other service providers

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related degree
  • Minimum of seven years of general accounting experience, or equivalent combination of an advanced degree, certification, and training
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and projects to meet deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong analytical abilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • CPA Certification
  •  Government grant administration
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct and financial reporting tools including high-level skills in Excel and Power BI
Physical Demands:
  • May require bending, lifting, standing, sitting, computer work, etc.
