BENEFITS SPECIALIST needed for a large Fortune 500 Company!


  • Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
  • Hybrid - Position is remote but must be able to come into the office a few days per month to process physical folders to electronic files.

Job Highlights


  • Will take over cash balance retirement plan
  • Dealing with questions from employees
  • Preparing retirement plan packages
  • Using a calculator in Excel to determine benefits plan numbers
  • Plan will eventually be terminated, looking through physical files, taking paperwork in the files and making it electronic.
  • 401k plan offered - Take tier 1 questions from employees and eligibility questions surrounding the plan.
  • Any exposure to any sort of HRIS system would be preferred, but not required.
  • Excel (more than basic)- pivot tables would be ideal; Need to know how to format a file; basic formula.
  • Need to be organized, detail-oriented with numbers, need to be able to perform quality work with a strong validation.
  • HR background - nice to have




  • As a member of the Benefits team, assists administering/analyzing various employee benefit/retirement plans.
  • The Benefits Specialist acts as a benefits contact point for employees, department managers and vendors on escalated Tier 2 benefit/retirement issues and as such, requires a fundamental knowledge of retirement and health & welfare benefits plan administration.


  • Assist with Retirement and Health and Welfare plan administration.
  • Coordinate, research and follow up with employees, department management and vendors to resolve employee tier 2 level benefits or retirement issues/questions.
  • Administer collection of employee medical/Rx cost share for those on leave of absence by preparing invoices, tracking payments and taking action when payment not received timely.
  • Prepare communications/paperwork for retirement program(s) and distribute to eligible participants.
  • Review returned pension paperwork for accuracy and enter into payment system.
  • Reconcile and prepare payment for vendor invoices. Obtain appropriate management level approval. Track and log payments.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and follow up on vendor invoice/billing issues.


  • Basic knowledge of health and welfare and retirement plans.
  • While an in-office role, the ability to work from home and complete required responsibilities timely and accurately within required time frames is warranted.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and use sound judgment to determine whether an issue can be resolved independently or needs to be escalated.
  • Experience using an HR database system, Oracle Fusion a plus
  • Proficient in PC environment and experience using Microsoft Office; intermediate level skills in Powerpoint, Excel and Word.

Required Skills:

  • 1+ years benefits or retirement plan administration experience

Degree Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent education is preferred, but candidates with proven experience will not be excluded from consideration.
