Job Summary: The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with Director of Huma Resources in supporting our operations. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides support to employees and managers in the handling of all human resource related activities which may include: employee relations, fielding employee questions or concerns, complaint investigation and response, recruitment, performance management, and the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Supports and serves as a liaison between employees and management under direction of the Director of Human Resources.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for all company wide open positions
  • Collaborate with site managers to meet staffing needs
  • Conducts new employee orientation.
  • Assists with both basic and comprehensive workplace investigations, ensuring timely, responsible. resolutions, consulting with HR/executive management, compliance and legal counsel as needed
  • Responsible to gather information and draft correspondence in response to unemployment claims; represents the Company in unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Ensures confidentiality, privacy, and legal compliance on all employee information as necessary.
  • Collaborates within HR team to maintain accurate personal records and data requests including audit reviews. Work closely with management teams, and legal as needed for terminations.
  • Conducts exit interviews and completes employee off- boarding process.
  • Assists other HR team members with special projects/tasks as assigned.
  • Performs other assignments as deemed necessary by the Director of Human Resources.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner (i.e., 45-day review, one year and yearly thereafter).
  • Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Assist with the leave of absence programs across all companies, to include FMLA and ADA.
  • Review all requests for extended leave for all employees to determine compliance with laws, policies and regulations .
  • Analyze and respond to FMLA requests and inquiries, and requests for accommodation under ADA.
  • Track and report on leave of absences in HRIS.
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process.Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans.
  • Maintains in depth technical knowledge of HR best practices, federal/state/local regulations and statutes, and company HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are fully considered before HR decisions are made.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 plus years progressive human resources experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws governing benefits administration, leaves, worker's compensation administration required.

  • Use discretionary judgment in dealing with confidential subjects and sensitive issues and maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong proficiency of Microsoft Office, essential
  • Ability to get along with multiple personality types and best represent the Company's culture and vision
  • Ability to take initiative without being prompted and work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements: Office environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Work Conditions: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
