  • Pay Range: $27.50 - $33.00

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Sr. Mechanic will assist the department Lead Person and Assistant Manager by performing the required maintenance and repairs of Agricultural equipment. This person will be responsible for performing maintenance work such as inspecting, troubleshooting and performing routine repair tasks on Carrot planters, Trap wagons, Tillage and related Ag. equipment. This person will be expected to support and follow Company safety policies as well as other policies. This person is required to have at least 2 years of experience in the field of agricultural equipment repair and maintenance. Assignments are performed with specified instructions, expected time limits and required acceptable quality in a shop and field environment will be required. This person will ensure that all equipment is safely operating at optimum condition.

JOB DUTIES

  • Assist the area Lead Person in maintaining company Ag. and related equipment as required
  • Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics
  • Follow company and department rules and policies
  • Work directly and cooperate with the Department Supervisors and Managers to accomplish project goals as needed
  • Maintain clean shop and job sites at all times
  • Work in a productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
  • Keep the area Lead Person informed of day to day task completion and maintain quality work level
  • Maintain a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation
  • Maintain shop and job site safety at all times
  • Sustain all 5S organizational efforts in shop areas
  • Maintain assigned tools and equipment
  • Report defective tools, equipment immediately to Lead / Management
  • Load/unload equipment as required
  • Pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and various farm locations
  • Inspect equipment for damage and worn components
  • Operate stationary and moving overhead cranes, forklifts, and any equipment needed to perform a job within safety guidelines
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Test and evaluate operation of Ag. and related equipment
  • Repair, replace, adjust and align components of machinery
  • Examine parts for defects and report
  • Assist in the relocation of Harvest / Ag. equipment to various locations throughout California
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to travel out of town with overnight stays
  • Ability to operate a pilot vehicle in/out of town
  • Load Carrot Harvesters for transportation purposes


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience as an Ag. equipment Mechanic
  • Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Work well in team setting

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others.
  • Work in productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork and co-operation.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Safety conscious, an eye for detail, and ability to perform multi tasks.
  • Knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing 12V and 24V electrical systems.
  • Previous experience performing Ag. equipment preventative maintenance tasks
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Ability to operate pneumatic tools appropriately.
  • Ability to operate power tools appropriately.
  • Basic welding and torch cutting skills.
  • Previous experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work in group settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years previous experience preferred
  • Technical Schooling in related field
  • Previous experience in “Total Process Reliability” (TPR) maintenance is a plus
  • Previous Agricultural equipment repair experience a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to climb up and down large equipment
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, gases, inclement weather, and cold storage temperatures
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to work on ladders, stairs and boom lifts

Hours & Workdays:

  • Monday – Thursday (7:00AM – 4:30PM) Friday (7:00AM – 3:30PM) When business requires, overtime and weekends will be mandatory.
