POSITION SUMMARY

As part of an expanding, global Human Resources team, the Human Resources Manager will act as the primary partner to business leaders and their team members. The incumbent will be responsible for providing general HR support and advice to managers and team members on HR programs and processes. The incumbent will identify HR solutions and strategies needed to support business, operational, and team member needs. The role is a true generalist position with involvement in different HR areas including retention, engagement, culture and inclusion, individual development, employee relations, and compliance.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Partner Management:

  • Collaborate with practice and department leaders to understand their business priorities and assess impacts to people. Develop and execute solutions not addressed by the company's HR priorities.
  • Work with managers to implement company programs/priorities at the team level including priorities related to organizational culture, engagement, and inclusion.
  • Support managers in the implementation of key talent processes including performance management, talent assessment, and career planning. As appropriate, collaborate with team members to build individual development plans.
  • Partner with managers to make appropriate compensation decisions for team members balancing budgets, team member performance, and pay equity in decision making.
  • Respond to routine questions and requests from managers and team members. Provide support and guidance on complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues as they arise.
  • Provide managers feedback on areas of concerns for team members. Help managers develop strategies to address opportunities in a manner consistent with the company's culture and drives team member engagement and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with managers to understand the skills, competencies, and outcomes that align with successful performance in the position. Translate those requirements into hiring and selection and performance and talent management decisions as well as the identification of learning needs.
  • Where appropriate, support team level talent acquisition and onboarding.

Employee Relations and Compliance:

  • Oversee employee relations matters. Conduct unbiased investigations and make recommendations for appropriate corrective action. Implement corrective actions and ensure appropriate documentation of actions taken.
  • Handle sensitive team member matters including complex leaves of absences, requests for reasonable accommodations, etc.
  • Domestically, ensures the company maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, internal protocols, and recommended best practices. Where appropriate, works with counsel to adapt policies and practices for global employees.
  • Continuously review policies and practices to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices.

Collaboration and Execution:

  • Collaborate with others in the HR team to design, build, and implement HR programs, policies, and practices that enable company level strategy.
  • Successfully collaborate within the HR function and with other shared services functions (e.g., finance, information technology, marketing, etc.) to execute team level HR priorities and generally ensure a positive team member experience.
  • Support the execution of routine HR transactions including promotions, job changes, etc.
  • As appropriate, develop and implement communications regarding team member changes ensuring alignment on communications cadences between business teams, HR, and marketing.

 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

This position will be based out of WittKieffer's Oak Brook, Illinois office, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule, with up to 3 days working from home per week.

Salary within our ranges is determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position offers a base salary of $80,000 to $130,000, plus a target bonus of 15%. WittKieffer offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life and disability insurances, and generous paid time off.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master's degree and/or major in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
  • Five or more years of prior HR experience; experience in a professional services organization preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience acting with professionalism in times of high stress and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with Human Capital Management Systems.
