Job Description

SUMMARY

The Wisconsin Medical Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. The Education Coordinator will develop, coordinate, and support the operations associated with the Society’s portfolio of accredited educational activities.

This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and processes to provide medical education and professional development activities to physicians and their teams. The Coordinator will interface with Society staff, the Medical Education and Professional Development (MEPD) Committee, recognized providers, member practices and systems, and other stakeholders involved in medical education and professional development.

This position is available for remote working but will require attendance at various state-wide member events, and occasional attendance at our Madison offices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage educational portfolio

  • Coordinate and collaborate with physicians and staff on creation of new educational content.
  • Manage online learning platform and vendor relationship, responsible for online educational content distribution and registration for education events and activities.
  • Manage partners on shared educational content and adherence to accreditation requirements.
  • Serve as primary staff for the Society’s Medical Education and Professional Development Committee.

Maintain accreditation status

  • Keeps abreast of ACCME and AMA medical education requirements.
  • Conducts the implementation and evaluation processes necessary to meet the requirements for accrediting and oversight entities (e.g., ACCME, AMA, and ABMS).
  • Maintains and improves processes to effectively support the Society’s status as an ACCME accredited and recognized entity, including the reporting and compliance requirements for accrediting.

Coordinate events (in-person and virtual)

  • Coordinate with vendors, venues, speakers and stakeholders during event planning.
  • Manage and oversee Society educational events, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, organizing vendors, and managing take-down.
  • Work with internal staff to create effective marketing and advertisements for each event.
  • Track event key performance metrics and identify items to work on for future events.
  • Present new event ideas and plans to internal staff to increase Society value and visibility.

 

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, education or related discipline preferred

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience in a health care setting or organization, preferably with active engagement with physicians and their health care team. Experience in adult/organizational learning principles and quality improvement with clinicians a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge, experience, or aptitude to learn ACCME accreditation criteria and requirements for certifying activities for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
  • Success in moving ideas from inception to reality with a results-oriented aptitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise superior judgment in complex situations
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database management software; experience with online learning management system(s) preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Attendance at events during and outside core daytime hours occasionally required
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record to operate personal vehicle on Society business
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing is required, with or without accommodation
  • Requires frequent use of personal computer
