The Innovation Hub is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Arkansans by inspiring innovation and expanding opportunities. Since the Hub's opening in 2014, our state-of-the-art facilities have provided tools and training to entrepreneurs, students, and other makers, preparing them to join and grow Arkansas's economic ecosystem. We see an Arkansas where, regardless of demographic identifiers or geographic location, Arkansans are generating and inspiring innovation in cutting-edge technology, business, and creative fields. The Innovation Hub uses tools, skills, and expertise to inspire innovators and entrepreneurs who expand the range of educational and economic opportunities for themselves, for their communities, in our state, and throughout the world.


The Innovation Hub hosts fun and unique summer camps for ages 8-17 focused on nature, art, and STEAM. Our 2023 summer camps include Camp EcoArt: Unearthing the Power of Art & Nature, The Great Outdoors Camp and Adventure Camp: Discover your Survival and Scouting skills! The Hub is hiring 3 Summer Education Interns to work with our education team. This is a part-time seasonal position dedicated to assisting the Education Team with summer activities that include field trips, summer camps, and the Mobile Makerspace.

Position Overview: The Summer Education Intern will assist our educators in leading youth programs, preparing kits & supplies, camp set up and clean up, enforcing Innovation Hub safety protocol and camp guidelines, and must be a positive role model for youth ages 8-17.

This position reports to the Senior Associate, Education and works with other Education Team members to deliver exceptional STEAM programming for the Innovation Hub that inspires youth to become makers, artists, and entrepreneurs.


Major Responsibilities

  • Assisting in leading summer camps.
  • Setting up supplies for summer camps.
  • Making kits for the Mobile Makerspace events.
  • Setting a positive example for younger interns and campers.
  • Facilitate exceptional learning experiences for a variety of ages and abilities in students.

Daily work hours: 7:30am - 12pm are preferred hours but may be flexible to some afternoon shifts

Duration: Monday - Friday, June 5- August 4, 2023


  • Hourly rate: $13 for rising Grades 11-12
  • Hourly rate: $16 for graduating Senior (18+) or recent high school graduates.


Education: Junior or Senior High School Student, 16+ years of age OR recent High School graduate, 18+


  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Experience with a STEAM hobby or learning experience preferred.
  • Desire to enter a STEAM related career field or degree program preferred.

Computer/Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Google and SharePoint knowledge a plus.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.

Communication Skills:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Teaching and/or public speaking skills preferred.

Language: Fluency in English is required.

Required Travel: Minimal travel may be required.

Position-Specific Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to give direction to youth.
  • Positive and encouraging attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience as "maker" (artist, craftsmen, engineer, musician) preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • This position typically requires sitting for long periods of office work, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
